Everybody who receives services through a Home Care Package is required to pay the basic fee. The maximum basic fee is set by the government and it is 17.5% of the single Aged Pension.
In addition to the basic fee, some care recipients will be required to pay an income-tested care fee. This is calculated by the government and reflects the level that the care recipient is able to contribute to the cost of their care and services.
There are annual and lifetime caps to the amount of income-tested care fees that are payable. If the care recipient would like to receive additional services, but they receive insufficient funding, they are able to pay an additional amount as a top-up
